Bemused.
Italy, though losing, are: within 2 points of France, <10 minutes to go, the defence has been fierce, and Bergamasco has apparently remembered how to kick.

Bloody hellfire, Italy. I was cheering you on in a sort of general support-the-underdog way (and because of Castrogiovanni being a Leicester Tigers lad), but still expecting you to be completely pasted. Almost wishing I'd stuck a bet on for you winning now... ;)

EDIT - ITALY IN THE LEAD, 22-21!

EDIT 2 - UNBELIEVABLE. THEY ACTUALLY WON. XD The team languishing at the bottom of the table just beat last year's Grand Slam winners.

Looks like Italy are winning now!!!

I'm stunned! But very perked up by it (I love a good old underdog win).

Gearing up for Wales v. Ireland now (a.k.a. my annual 'Miasma of Catholic Guilt fixture')...must nip out and grab a couple of bottles!

Don't you get sozzled, you're supposed to be in loco parentis.
Jones 593: rygbiboyossospan_fach on March 12th, 2011 06:58 pm (UTC)
Too late. Hah. DA IAWN, CYMRU and especially Hooky. :D (Technically illegal try aside; oopsie...)

(Well, I am not that sozzled. I only got one bottle in the end. J's watching the footie in the other room, so he's fine.)

Then you are drunk and watching rugby by yourself. Careful, you'll be wearing a string vest next.
You were after Wales winning, then? I wasn't sure what you'd do faced with a choice between Wales & Ireland; I thought you might explode. Have they really won if everyone agrees the try was illegal, though? (I actually *know* about that, are you proud?) Or are you allowed to be chuffed anyway?
Jones 593: meerkat rugbysospan_fach on March 12th, 2011 08:53 pm (UTC)
:meekly: I'm not so very drunk, dear. (I haven't sent you rambling texts yet, after all.)

Well, it's either explode or console yourself with the fact that you won't be distraught if Ireland win: '09 was okay, 'cause it meant Ireland getting the TC and GS, which made me quite happy. Occupational hazard of being a mongrel, as you are familiar with.

Have they really won if everyone agrees the try was illegal, though?

Ref did go to the touch-judge and ask if it was the same ball, touch-judge said "Yep", so ref awarded try, which is then done and dusted, even if it's in error. C'est la vie, what goes around comes around, and so forth. As my fave IRFU-supporting commenter on the Grauniad articles put it: That try - infuriating. Shit happens though and I'd have certainly taken it for us if the positions were reversed. (He's a better chap than I am: I'd have been spitting feathers.)

(I actually *know* about that, are you proud?)

Immensely proud. XD (Have you been sneakily watching t'rugger? Have I created a monster?)

Can I just mention the fact that you two are just adorbs?

*runs*

Hah. We actually got told off by a stranger in a Camden nightclub for being nauseating last week.

Aw. Bless you. Ta.

And so are you! :D

>>(Have you been sneakily watching t'rugger? Have I created a monster?)<<

No, but I did look at the Six Nations website. And actually understood most of it. I don't think the possibility of a monster is entirely off the board.

:evil laugh:

So, er, now might be a good time to admit that I entered the Bath Chronicle's competition for a pair of Bath v. Tigers tickets on Sat 26th March then, eh? (Including four paragraphs of pleading that they might find it in their hearts to give a Tigers supporter a equal chance in the random draw, rather than disqualifying me outright on grounds of the Leicester address...

...not that I anticipate actually winning tickets for a moment; but the damn match was a first-day sell-out, and one has to try.)
art_inthe_bloodart_inthe_blood on March 13th, 2011 01:36 am (UTC)
Ooh, yeah! And so very conveniently timed; it's obviously Meant. And if it's the Chronic, actually, you do have a chance. It has a circulation of about eleven.

(Hey, you hear that, Wolfie? We're adorbs! *cackles madly*)
